Preparing for EICC Canvas
In May, we announced EICC would transition from the Iowa Community College Online Consortium (ICCOC) this fall. This is a milestone for the college as we are taking full ownership of our online learning environment through our own dedicated Canvas instance.
This transition is an investment in the future of online learning. By managing our own Canvas environment, we can respond more quickly to instructional needs and continue building high-quality online learning opportunities that enhance the student experience. And having one academic schedule makes it easier for everyone.
The strength of our online programs comes from our faculty. The time, expertise, and care you invest in developing engaging courses and supporting students—whether in the classroom or in the virtual environment—are fundamental to student success. Your commitment creates rich learning experiences that distinguish EICC, and we value the role you play in helping students achieve their goals.
We recognize this transition is a significant undertaking. Our priority is to make this process seamless as possible while minimizing any disruption to your course preparation for Fall 2026. This is an opportunity for us to work together to create an even stronger online learning environment for our students and faculty.
Thank you for your flexibility, patience, and partnership as we move through this transition. We are confident that by working together, we’ll build a stronger online learning environment for our students today and position EICC for continued success in the future.
What This Means for Fall 2026
- EICC is launching its own Canvas environment and will have greater control over online learning for students. Previously developed courses are being migrated into the new EICC Canvas environment; this will preserve the work faculty have already invested in course development.
- Please do not create Fall 2026 courses in the ICCOC Canvas instance. EICC’s new Canvas environment will be available to faculty beginning Aug. 3, providing time to review migrated courses, make updates, and prepare for the semester.
- Training opportunities, support resources, and additional guidance will be provided throughout the transition.
Together, we have an exciting opportunity to shape the future of online learning at EICC and make this transition successful. We appreciate your continued dedication to our students.
Optional Faculty Work Days
To support this transition and provide dedicated time for course preparation, EICC will offer optional faculty work days.
- Wednesday, Aug. 12
12 – 4 p.m.
SCC Main Campus, Room 1109 - Thursday, Aug. 13

Fall Start-Up
