The Chancellor’s Awards recognize outstanding faculty and staff whose work advances student success, strengthens the colleges, and brings our mission to life. Awards may be presented annually to individuals or teams for significant contributions, projects, or sustained efforts within the past one to three years. 

Award Categories 

Honoring transformative teaching, learning, and academic program advancement. 

Purpose: Recognizes faculty or teams who advance student learning, academic quality, and innovation in instructional design, delivery, or program development. 
 
Criteria:

  • Demonstrates measurable impact on student learning, retention, completion, or transfer 
  • Implements innovative teaching, curriculum design, or delivery models 
  • Aligns programs with workforce, transfer, or community needs 
  • Uses data or assessment to improve academic outcomes 
  • Creates scalable or replicable academic practices 
  • Advances access and success in learning 

Celebrates exceptional service that strengthens the student experience. 

Purpose: Recognizes faculty, staff, or teams who significantly enhance student supports, services, and the student experience.  
 
Criteria:

  •  Improves access to, or effectiveness of, student services and supports 
  • Demonstrates measurable improvements in persistence, completion, or satisfaction 
  • Creates or enhances programs that remove barriers to student success 
  • Builds a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment 
  • Demonstrates collaboration across departments 
  • Uses student feedback or data to inform improvements 

Honoring partnerships and programs that extend the college’s impact

Purpose: Recognizes outstanding work that strengthens community partnerships, expands access to learning, and advances the college’s role as a lifelong learning hub. 
 
Possible Criteria:

  • Builds meaningful partnerships with community, business, or education partners 
  • Expands access to continuing education, workforce training, or community learning 
  • Demonstrates measurable community impact or engagement 
  • Enhances the college’s visibility and role as a community leader 
  • Creates pathways from community engagement to enrollment or employment 
  • Supports regional workforce or economic development needs 

Recognizes innovation in efficiency, effectiveness, and resource alignment

Purpose: Honors individuals or teams who improve operational processes, steward resources effectively, and strengthen institutional performance.

Criteria

  • Improves efficiency, accuracy, quality, or timeliness of processes 
  • Demonstrates strong stewardship of institutional resources 
  • Implements improvements that reduce risk or strengthen compliance 
  • Enhances data use, reporting, or decision-making 
  • Creates sustainable cost savings or productivity gains 
  • Leads cross-functional improvements with measurable impact 

General Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Eligibility 

  • Nominees must be current Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) employees or retirees within the fiscal year.  
  • Both full-time and part-time employees are eligible. 
  • Individuals or teams may be nominated. 
  • Contributions should demonstrate impact within the past three years. 
  • Senior Leadership Team members are not eligible. 
  • Previous Chancellor’s Award recipients are not eligible for three years following recognition. 
     

Selection Committee 

Award recipients will be selected by a committee consisting of: 

  • Chancellor 
  • Three Senior Leadership Team members 
  • One member of the Board of Trustees  

The committee will review nominations based on alignment with award criteria, demonstrated impact, and contribution to the mission, values, and priorities of the college. 

Nomination Process 

Nominations may be submitted by faculty, staff, students, or community members. The nomination process is simple and accessible.

Letters of Support 

Letters may be provided by individuals who can speak to the nominee’s impact, including: 

  •  Colleagues 
  • Supervisors 
  • Students 
  • Community or communication partners 

 Letters should include specific examples of the nominee’s contributions and impact. 

Recognition 

Awardees will be invited to a recognition dinner in September, be recognized at Fall Development Day, and receive Chancellor’s Award of Excellence merchandise.
