After recently attending the NACTEi conference in Oklahoma City, and working with the Perkins grant over the past few years, this team will share ideas for maximizing the utilization of funds through this grant with an innovative approach.  You'll also learn how Perkins funds are distributed, monitored, and reported to the state. HLC Comprehensive Visit Prep: The Dynamic Duo Edition!

Holy accreditation, Batman! The bat signal is up, and it’s calling all superheroes to action for the upcoming HLC comprehensive visit. In this action-packed session, we’ll channel our inner Caped Crusaders (and trusty sidekicks) to prepare for our greatest adventure yet!

Just like Batman and Robin, we’ll strategize and fight our way through the labyrinth of criteria and evidence collection, all while keeping our utility belts stocked with data-driven insights. Attendees are invited to don their metaphorical capes and masks as we tackle the accreditation visit head-on, using our superpowers of collaboration, creativity, and compliance.

Active listening can be challenging to do well. There are many reasons, including external and internal noise, bad habits, and our internal bias. Practice your focus, patience, and empathy with this workshop to tune-up your listening skills with an easy-to-learn model.

Short Readings Group: A Professional Learning Community

The SCC Humanities/Fine Arts department and SCC Library team up to bring you the Short Readings Group (SRG). This bi-weekly program offers a chance to explore literary criticism, political analysis, philosophical thought, and more – all in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Student Inclusivity Through Universal Design

Empower all learners! This session equips educators with the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to create inclusive and effective classroom instruction. Explore strategies for engagement, representation, and action & expression. Practical tools for UDL for all learners will be shared during this session along with a Q & A session at the end with Alyse Schmidt and Charlott Glowacki.

The OSCQR: A Framework for Course Design 

What is the OSCQR? Join the eLearning department to explore the OSCQR course design framework. Understand why the framework has been trusted for decades, why you should know it, and why you should use it!

Pursing Higher Education as a Higher Ed Professional - Panel Q&A Forum 

Have you been thinking about pursuing a higher credential, but have questions about what it's like to be a professional at EICC *and* a student? Panelists/colleagues who have recently completed a degree program or are currently working on their degree will share their experiences with you in this session. Your questions are the priority; topics may include balancing time, study strategies, costs and funding, project management, motivation, collaboration with colleagues outside of EICC, and putting classroom learning/research into practice at EICC.

PeopleAdmin

PeopleAdmin is EICC’s Human Resources Information System and Applicant Tracking System (ATS). In this session you'll learn more about this all-in-one system and how it applies to each employee. PeopleAdmin has enhanced efficiency for job postings, organizes job applications in real-time, and quickly provides feedback to applicants about job status. Employees can also use PeopleAdmin to request a job posting, onboard full-time new hires using pre-filled information from their application, review employee job descriptions and view individual employee documents in the database. This session will go over accessing PeopleAdmin, viewing your job description and how to request to post a job opening, any additional time will be used for questions.

SkillsUSA 

We will talk about the benefits of the Skills USA Framework and how to incorporate it into classes. Daily and weekly examples will be given. The framework is not only for CTE classes, because every class also teaches at least some of the Essential Elements of the framework.

Question Persuade, Refer (QPR): How To Assist A Student Who Is Suicidal

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, Refer. Similar to CPR, QPR is an emergency response protocol to help someone in crisis. QPR is an evidence based, gatekeeper training program designed to train individuals how to assist and respond to someone who is in crisis or who may be suicidal.

"What's in my Canvas shell?" is a professional development series started with the goal of sharing ideas and promoting collaboration and innovation among EICC faculty. Faculty show and explain interesting aspects in their Canvas shells to give others ideas of how they can improve their own Canvas shells. In this "Arrested (Fall) Development (Day)" special episode, find out some quick Canvas tips and get a look at icons designed by EICC's marketing team that you can use in your own Canvas shells!

EICC and K12 Strategic Partnerships: Equity for all Students

Frontline - Moving Forward

Attendees do not have to have attended the July 18 training day at the West Davenport Center but should have received an invitation. This session is a facilitated discussion about the communication struggles of frontline staff. We will share explanations for common terminology that are working well and review and troubleshoot any recent situations encountered. We will discuss the first draft of the Frontline Staff Standards of Behavior. We will also engage in an activity that releases stress and gives back to our co-workers.
