Meet Marvin the Troll

Tucked within the natural beauty of Bickelhaupt Arboretum, you’ll find one of Clinton’s most unique and imaginative attractions—Marvin, a larger-than-life troll created by world-renowned Danish artist Thomas Dambo.

Crafted from reclaimed and recycled wood, Marvin is part of a trio of giant troll sculptures installed across Clinton, Iowa. Each piece is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for sustainability and the environment. Nestled into the arboretum’s landscape, Marvin invites visitors of all ages to explore, discover, and connect with nature in a new way.

Dambo’s work is known around the world for blending art, storytelling, and environmental awareness. The Clinton trolls were brought to life with the help of local volunteers, making them not only a global attraction, but also a reflection of community collaboration and pride.

Whether you’re visiting for a class, event, or a quiet walk through the gardens, be sure to seek out Marvin, and experience the wonder he brings to the arboretum.
