Nursing is a great career, and extremely rewarding. We prepare you to excel. Our accredited program gets you hands-on, out of the classroom, and into the field. Graduate, take the NCLEX national exam, and you can be working as a practical nurse in one year, and a licensed RN in as little as two years. Iowa's Last-Dollar Scholarship may even cover your tuition.
What You Learn in the Nursing Program
Study the human body, medications, nutrition, infections, and more during your first year and graduate with a Practical Nursing Diploma. Want to provide a deeper level of care? Keep going and enjoy the strong clinical component that is woven into year two. You will work directly with patients, attend conferences, observe healthcare teams, and perfect your skills in our nursing simulation lab. Graduate, take the NCLEX national licensure exam, and launch your career as an RN.
What Can I Do With an Associate's Degree in Nursing?
Pass the RN licensure exam and work as a team with physicians and other healthcare specialists. You can specialize as well. Care for cancer patients as an oncology nurse or elderly patients as a geriatric nurse. RNs coordinate patient care, perform diagnostic tests, work with patients and families to manage illness, and more. You can work in a hospital, doctor’s office, in rehabilitative or home healthcare. Skilled nurses are in-demand throughout the U.S. and world. Be a traveling nurse, or just volunteer, to care for patients in places that need your skills and expertise.
