Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) is inviting employers across the region to participate in its newly launched Workforce Development and Training Survey. This effort is a key step in better understanding the real-time needs of local industries and ensuring that EICC continues to deliver responsive, high-quality training solutions for our ever-evolving workforce landscape.

As workforce dynamics shift due to advances in technology, changing demographics, and emerging industry needs, EICC remains committed to its mission to adapt quickly and collaboratively. For decades, the college has played a central role in preparing skilled workers and supporting employers with tailored training programs that meet specific organizational goals.

“We know the workforce is changing - and fast,” said Ashlee Spannagel, EICC’s Vice Chancellor of Workforce Development. “This survey is our way of listening, learning, and leaning into the needs of local businesses, so we can align our training programs accordingly.”

About the Survey

The survey is designed for employers across sectors—including manufacturing, healthcare, construction, transportation, government, education, agriculture, and more. It gathers insight into:
  • Current and emerging employee training needs
  • Barriers to participation in training
  • Preferred training formats (online, hybrid, onsite, etc.)
  • Skills or certifications that would aid in hiring and retention
  • Interest in partnerships such as customized training, apprenticeships, internships, and advisory roles
Responses will directly shape future programs, partnerships, and investments in workforce development across EICC’s service region.

A Call to Employers: Your Voice Matters

EICC urges local employers—small businesses, large manufacturers, healthcare providers, school districts, and every organization in between—to complete the survey and make their voices heard. By doing so, you will help EICC:
  • Identify and close skill gaps
  • Improve access to relevant, timely training
  • Design programs that strengthen recruitment, onboarding, and retention
  • Build a workforce that keeps Eastern Iowa thriving
“When our employers speak, we listen—and act. This survey is not just a form; it's a roadmap to a stronger, more resilient regional economy,” Spannagel said.

How to Participate

Employers can fill out the survey online at eicc.edu/survey through August 22. It takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Responses are confidential and will be used solely to inform training strategies and collaboration opportunities.
