Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) is reaching out to the community for input as it begins the search for a new chancellor. The college is encouraging students, faculty, staff, and local residents to participate in the process, offering multiple opportunities for the public to share their thoughts on what the next leader should bring to the table.

EICC will be hosting a series of forums at its main Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott campuses, as well as a virtual session, where participants can express their opinions on the key qualities and leadership skills they feel are necessary for the role. The feedback collected will help inform the profile of the ideal candidate that the search committee and Board of Trustees will use during the hiring process.

The forums are scheduled for:

  • Clinton Community College
    Monday, September 30 | 9:30 – 11 a.m.
    Room 139
  • Scott Community College
    Monday, September 30 | 2:30 – 4 p.m.
Belmont Room 2300, Student Life Center
  • Virtual Session
    Tuesday, October 1 | 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
    Via Zoom
  • Muscatine Community College
    Tuesday, October 1 | 2 – 3:30 p.m.
    Student Center

In addition to the forums, EICC has also launched an online survey to capture more detailed input from the community. The survey will remain open until October 1 and is designed to gather insights on the characteristics most important to consider in the next chancellor.

EICC is also accepting nominations for individuals to serve on the Chancellor Search Committee. Community members can nominate colleagues or local residents who they believe would contribute valuable perspectives to the selection process. Nominations are open through September 30.

Michelle Garvin, Chair of the Chancellor Search Committee, emphasized the importance of community involvement in this decision. “We want to make sure the next chancellor is someone who truly represents the values and aspirations of our entire EICC community. The more voices we hear, the better we can identify the right leader for our future.”

EICC's decision to engage the community is a reflection of its longstanding commitment to collaboration and inclusivity as it looks toward the next chapter of its leadership. For more information, visit eicc.edu/chancellorsearch.
