Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) has named Comanchette “Camie” McBee, M.Ed.,
as its next vice chancellor of academic affairs. She will begin in mid-July and provide
leadership for academic programs and services across all college facilities, including
the Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott campuses.
McBee has 14 years of community college experience, including work in academic operations,
accreditation, strategic planning, assessment, and curriculum. She currently serves
as dean of institutional effectiveness, social sciences, communication, and business
at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs.
“Camie’s experience, perspective, and understanding of the community college mission will
serve EICC well,” said EICC Chancellor Bryan Renfro, Ph.D. “As a former community
college student herself, she understands the role we play in helping students prepare
for careers, support their families, and strengthen their communities.”
McBee’s career includes experience as a faculty member, department chair, dean, and
leader in assessment and institutional effectiveness. Prior to joining Iowa Western,
she was an adjunct instructor for William Penn University, Grand View University,
and Des Moines Area Community College.
"Initially, I was drawn to EICC's unique history and mission, but it was the people
who made the strongest impression on me,” McBee said. “The support, kindness, and
student-centered focus I experienced made it clear that EICC is a place where people
genuinely care about student success. As someone whose life has been shaped by community
colleges, I am honored to join EICC and excited to work alongside faculty, staff,
students, and community partners to continue creating opportunities that change lives."
“Camie is a faculty member at heart,” Renfro added. “She understands the classroom experience and the important role faculty play in helping students persist, grow, and succeed. Her background across both arts and sciences and career and technical education will be an asset as we continue strengthening academic programs and supporting student success.”
