SCC Nursing Student Orientation Session/Boot Camp Meeting
Congratulations on being accepted into Scott Community College’s Department of Nursing class, entering August 2023.You and your classmates are a diverse and talented group who should benefit greatly from each other as well as from the challenge of the nursing curriculum. You are now moving from Pre-Nursing to Nursing status and we are sure that you have many questions regarding this next phase of your education.
We will be holding a MANDATORY orientation session/boot camp on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Check in will take place between 8:40 – 9 a.m. Review of information will begin promptly at 9 a.m. This meeting will be held in the Community Room at the Urban Campus, 101 W. Third St., Davenport, IA. Please use this parking pass and park in the correct parking ramps.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide you with information that will help you through your first semester of the nursing program.Presentations on nursing program resources will be provided. We will be discussing the required coursework, clinical information, CPR, physical exam and other health requirements, uniforms, costs associated with the program and information regarding criminal background checks that are performed on all students entering the program.
The Nursing curriculum is very rewarding, but it is also very challenging. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of your attendance at this meeting. BLS CPR Class Opportunity on July 12
We have an opportunity for those of you who need to complete the American Heart Association BLS CPR requirement for fall. EICC is offering a course specifically for our Nursing students from 1 – 3 p.m. on July 12, 2023. This is the same day as the Orientation Session/Boot Camp and the CPR class will be held in room W318 at the Urban Campus. This class will cost $25.00 and will be for the hands on skills only portion. You will need to register for this class by Friday, July 7 by calling 563-441-4100 and registering for section #24676 to attend.
Note: You will need to complete the online portion before attending this class by doing the following:
- You must purchase the online Heartcode BLS for $34 through the American Heart
- Association (AHA) at shopcpr.heart.org.You will need to print out your certificate from
