Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) invites the community to run, walk and make a colorful difference during the inaugural Color the Campus fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 17.

Hosted by Scott Community College’s (SCC) Phi Theta Kappa honor society and the Scott Community College Foundation, the family-friendly event begins at 10 a.m. at Scott Community College, 500 Belmont Road, Bettendorf.

Participants can make their way through the course at their own pace while being showered with bursts of colorful powder. Proceeds will support Phi Theta Kappa and student success initiatives at SCC, including scholarships, leadership development, community service projects, professional growth opportunities, conferences, and other student programming.

“Phi Theta Kappa has given me opportunities to grow as a student and leader while connecting me with people who want to make a difference,” said Jessica Larson, an EICC student and PTK member. “Color the Campus is a fun way to bring people together while creating those same opportunities for more students.”

The event is open to EICC students, alumni, employees, families, businesses, and community members of all ages. Registration includes an official event T-shirt, access to all color stations, and event photo opportunities. Participants are encouraged to invite friends, family members, classmates, or coworkers and register as a team.

“This event is about much more than color and fun,” said Deb Lowman, Phi Theta Kappa advisor at SCC. “Every registration helps our students build confidence, develop leadership skills, serve their community and make the most of their college experience.”

Color the Campus also coincides with the 60th anniversary of Iowa’s community college system, celebrating six decades of creating pathways to education, careers and brighter futures.

Businesses and organizations can support the event through sponsorships ranging from $100 to $500. Volunteer opportunities are also available for those interested in helping with registration, color stations, course support, and event activities.

Participants may register in advance or on the day of the event. To register, become a sponsor or learn more, visit eicc.edu/colorthecampus.
