A job search can change quickly. Resume expectations shift. Online applications evolve. Employers use new screening tools. And knowing how to explain the skills and experience you already have can make a difference when it’s time to apply or interview.

You don’t have to guess your way through it.

EICC Continuing Education is offering a series of free workshops focused on practical skills people can use right away. Current and prospective Continuing Education students, job seekers, career changers, recent graduates, and community members can choose the workshop that fits what they need, from preparing for an interview to strengthening a resume or making more confident financial decisions.

Professional Presence and Interview Readiness

The Professional Presence and Interview Readiness workshop will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Blong Technology Center. Participants will work on building confidence for interviews, strengthening their professional presence, and showing employers what they bring to the job.

The workshop is offered every other month, with the next session scheduled for Jan. 5, 2027. Additional 2027 workshops will be held March 2, May 4, July 6, Sept. 7, and Nov. 2.

The workshop is presented by Daniela Webb, EICC Continuing Education career navigator, and Shawna Shields, EICC Career Services.

Resume Workshop

Goodwill of the Heartland will present a Resume Workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Blong Technology Center.

Participants will learn how to format a resume, highlight accomplishments and transferable skills, use keywords, understand applicant tracking systems, and tailor a resume for the job they want.

The workshop will be offered monthly, with the next session scheduled for Jan. 12, 2027.

Financial Literacy

Ascentra Credit Union will present a Financial Literacy workshop from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at the Blong Technology Center.

Participants will learn how to track where their money goes, understand a pay stub, compare financial services, make sense of employee benefits, and start thinking about retirement.

The workshop will be offered quarterly, with additional sessions April 1, July 1, and Oct. 7, 2027.

headshot of Daniela Webb CE Career Navigator at EICCDaniela Webb, EICC Continuing Education career navigator, said the workshop series is designed to address key factors that contribute to student success.

"It's meant to provide students with a comprehensive foundation. Earning money is only part of the equation; learning how to manage and keep it is just as important. Students will gain financial stability skills, enhance their professional confidence, and develop practical job search tools. As a result, participants will be better equipped to obtain employment, retain employment, and achieve success."

She said many of the adult students she works with already possess years of valuable experience and transferable skills.

"What may be less familiar is how the hiring process has evolved and how to effectively showcase those skills in today's competitive job market. This will be an opportunity to gain and/or refresh their financial knowledge, build confidence, practice essential career-readiness skills, and take meaningful steps toward their professional goals," Webb added.

All three workshops are free and open to the public. Seating is limited and registration is required. Sessions scheduled in 2027 will be open for enrollment soon.
