CCC was selected from a competitive field of community colleges across the country to receive $100,000 to transform the future of students. Funded by Metallica’s All Within My Hands (AWMH) and led by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), the Metallica Scholars Initiative directly support students while elevating the importance of career and technical education. This work is highlighted at a global level by leveraging the influence of Metallica, which continues to elevate the dignity of professional trades and community colleges.

“My first reaction was, there’s no way they would pick me, because I thought they’d want to give it to someone younger — just out of high school — and not someone who already has a bachelor’s degree and is kind of wayward in their life.”

CCC is using the funds to cover costs for students enrolled in the Engineering Technology program. Ten full-tuition, and 40 $1,500 scholarships will be awarded. The college will highlight these Metallica Scholars, promoting the high-demand, skilled trade as a means to economic development.

“We are very excited to work with Metallica and the AACC to focus on career and technical training, and the many opportunities for students in our community. The timing of this initiative could not be better,” said Brian Kelly, Clinton Community College President.
