Farming may be one of the most important jobs on the planet. Learn what it takes to run a successful farming or livestock operation — big or small. Gain a well-rounded education in all areas of the industry, and graduate ready to lead with confidence.

What You Learn in Farm Management

Understand the science of livestock and crop production. Learn about risk management, financial management, agricultural marketing, and professional communications. Choose to work with livestock like beef and swine, or take a course in grain science. You are challenged to explore all of the career possibilities and given that opportunity, too. Enjoy four paid internships.

What Can I do With a Farm Management Degree?

Run businesses that produce crops, livestock, or dairy products. Take care of day-to-day management by supervising all steps of production such as planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and herding. Watch market conditions, soil conditions and more, to make decisions about crops and livestock. If machinery breaks down or an animal needs tended to, ensure the jobs gets done. Manage finances, mitigate risk, and understand regulatory policy.
