GAP Career Training

You can move into an in-demand career field, then move up the ladder. Really. We provide the education and training you need while the state covers your tuition. The GAP Tuition Assistance Program has helped thousands of Iowans land great jobs and launch great careers. Let's see if you qualify.

Iowa's GAP Tuition Assistance Program (GAP) covers partial to full tuition for people who meet certain requirements, and want to work in an in-demand occupation in fields like IT, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, transportation and logistics, and more.

You build the skills you need to enter the field in one year or less in our non-credit training programs. While you are involved in GAP career training, you work closely with a pathway navigator. This EICC staff member is great resource to you. As you get close to completing the program, they even help you create a job search plan.

To qualify, you must be:

  • A resident of Iowa
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Currently unemployed or underemployed
  • Unable to attain gainful employment due to skill qualifications or meet income eligibility guidelines

We want to learn more about your commitment to the career field you want to enter. You can share that with us during an initial assessment with EICC staff. We also share some information with you about the industry and the training you'll need.

GAP offers career programs that can be completed in less than one year. If  you choose to continue your education with EICC, the process of doing so will be seamless. The training and skills you build in many GAP programs can be counted as credits toward an EICC college certificate, diploma or degree. Start a new career in one of the following fields:

  • Basic Electrical

  • CNC
  • Construction
