Open Education Resources 

Join us for a session on Open Educational Resources (OER). We will begin with a brief introduction to OER, highlighting how these freely accessible, openly licensed materials can enhance teaching and learning. Learn about the EICC OER Workgroup and their efforts to support educators in integrating OER into their classrooms. We will also highlight new resources from the Open Education Network and the Open Textbook Library, offering valuable tools for educators seeking high-quality, customizable content. The session will conclude with updates from the State of Iowa OER Action Team, sharing the latest developments in promoting OER across the state.

AI in Photoshop: Creative Power and Classroom Potential

Discover how Adobe Photoshop’s AI tools are reshaping digital creativity and how they can be brought into the classroom. This session will include examples of Photoshop’s generative AI features like Generative Fill and Generative Expand, plus an overview of two new course modules for ART 186-Digital Photography. Retention in Focus: Key Indicators and Classroom Impact

This session explores key retention and student success indicators—including term-to-term retention, DFW rates, course completion, and insights from Dropout Detective. Together, we will examine how these metrics intersect to tell a broader story about student persistence and success at EICC.

The new EICC OSCQR rubric highlights two big areas for improvement for Canvas shells: Accessibility and Engagement. Brainfuse Tutoring at EICC

Information Literacy Sessions

Discover what information literacy is and how your campus library can help your students apply research basics, such as: keyword searching, Boolean operators, nested search terms, as well as critical evaluation of sources and writing citations. Campus library employees Courtney Pritchard and Erin Steckel will discuss their approaches to information literacy; how they have adapted information literacy in the past to various departments, student assignments, or modalities; how to book information literacy sessions at each campus; and the electronic resources available for research to EICC students, faculty, and staff.

Outcomes Matter- Understanding Student Success Beyond the Classroom

What happens after students leave our classrooms? This session takes a closer look at key outcome measures, including graduation rates, the state’s Outcomes Dashboard (placement rates and wage levels), and Regent University transfer data. Together, we will explore what we know about our students’ success—whether they are entering the workforce, continuing their education, or both.

We will review insights by program, campus, and student population, offering space to reflect on how academic experiences influence long-term outcomes. Faculty will be invited to consider how teaching, advising, and curriculum decisions play a role in student success beyond completion.

This session offers both a big-picture view and actionable ideas—connecting institutional goals with classroom-level impact. Join us to engage with the data, ask questions, and help shape the future of student success at EICC.

This training session introduces faculty (and staff) to the college’s new Zoom Phone system, which replaces traditional desk phones with a cloud-based communication platform. The session focuses on helping faculty understand how to access, configure, and use Zoom Phone across desktop and mobile devices.

Join us for an informal session to learn about the upcoming review of EICC policies, practices, and materials to ensure compliance with recent state and federal laws.
