Help Us Create EICC’s New Mascot!

One that truly reflects who we are.

Submit your EICC Mascot Idea

EICC is creating a new mascot that represents us all. It will be a symbol of boldness, inclusivity, connection, and pride in the place we call home.

This isn’t just about finding a costume or a logo. It’s about creating something that brings people together. A figure that adds energy to our campuses, pride to our students, and recognition to EICC across eastern Iowa and beyond.

Now we’re inviting you to help bring it to life.

About the Project

Over the past month, hundreds of students, employees, and community members shared their ideas through our Mascot Survey. You told us you wanted something fresh, meaningful, and unmistakably EICC.

From your feedback, we developed a Mascot Profile — a creative guide that captures the personality, tone, and traits we’re looking for in our next college symbol.

Before submitting your idea, take a moment to review the Mascot Profile below. It outlines the vision, inspiration, and direction for this project.

Submission Deadline

October 24, 2025

Submit your idea here

Once submissions close, a selection committee will review all entries and choose a group of finalists. Then, the entire EICC community will vote to select the new mascot.

Together, we’ll choose something that celebrates our identity, reflects our region, and inspires pride for years to come.

Mascot Profile

Our new mascot should be original to EICC — energetic, welcoming, and rooted in eastern Iowa. It should reflect the resilience, optimism, and community pride that define our students and the communities we serve.

Playful enough to build excitement and school spirit, yet grounded enough to show confidence and determination, our mascot will bring everyone together under one shared symbol of EICC pride.

Identity and Form

Most preferred: An animal that is native, resilient, and energetic.

Other options: A mythical or nature-based symbol such as a phoenix, gryphon, or river-inspired theme.

Avoid: Overused mascots (eagles, tigers, bulldogs), human figures, violent/aggressive imagery, or mascots disconnected from Eastern Iowa.

Personality and Spirit

  • Inclusive and supportive – welcoming and compassionate
  • Community-oriented – collaborative, connected, and empowering
  • Bold and driven – ambitious and resilient

Tone: Uplifting and friendly, with a playful edge that inspires joy and connection.

Role and Impact

The mascot should:

  • Act as a friendly connector who makes others feel welcome.
  • Serve as a crowd energizer who brings fun and enthusiasm to events.
  • Represent a motivator and protector who embodies strength with heart.

Regional Connection

  • Our community wants a mascot that reflects Eastern Iowa’s identity — whether through local wildlife, culture, or the spirit of the Mississippi River region.
  • It should feel unique to EICC and unmistakably ours.

Visual Style

  • The design should be modern, bold, and timeless, standing out on apparel, digital platforms, and event signage.
  • It should be approachable but iconic — something that connects with people of all ages while remaining distinctly EICC. Avoid cartoonish or overly abstract designs.

What It Should Inspire

When people see or interact with the mascot, they should feel:

  • Inspired and encouraged
  • Connected and seen
  • Joyful and proud

Where It Will Shine

You’ll see our mascot:

  • At campus and community events
  • In college marketing and social media
  • On apparel, stickers, and other EICC gear

2025 - 26 Timeline

The discovery process begins with the Mascot Profile Survey, open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. Anonymous responses on identity, personality, originality and style set the stage for what comes next.

Survey closed Sept. 19, 2025.

The Mascot Committee reviews submissions carefully, weighing originality, brand fit, feasibility and uniqueness. From hundreds of ideas, three to five finalists will rise to the top.

The finalists are revealed. Then it’s your turn again. Voting opens across EICC — online and in person — so every voice can be part of the decision.

The moment arrives: the new mascot is announced.  With messages sent, news shared and reveal parties on campus, the mascot’s debut marks the start of its life as a unifying symbol for our college.
