EICC is creating a new mascot that reflects our students, our communities, and the region we proudly call home. One that brings people together. Energizes our campuses. Inspires pride for years to come.
Over the past several weeks, we’ve taken important steps to shape a mascot grounded in who we are.
First, you told us what qualities an EICC mascot should embody.
Then, the college community submitted creative mascot ideas.
A review committee evaluated every semifinalist using a shared rubric, narrowing the list to the strongest, most meaningful contenders.
Now it’s your turn again.
We’re inviting the entire EICC community to vote for the mascot that best represents our mission, our campuses, and our students.
Your vote will guide the final decision and help bring our new college symbol to life.
Voting closes Friday, Dec. 5.

The Red Fox
Curious. Clever. Fearlessly forward.
The Red Fox captures the drive and determination of EICC students. Quick-thinking and adaptable, they explore boldly and carve out their own path.
Like EICC students, foxes are resourceful and curious — using creativity, focus, and resilience to meet every challenge. They move confidently across different environments, just as our students navigate college, career, and life with flexibility and purpose.
The Red Fox reminds us that success comes from being smart, prepared, and willing to think differently.

The River Otter
Playful. Connected. Always in motion.
The River Otter reflects the energy, collaboration, and community spirit that define EICC students. They dive into opportunities, support one another, and stay engaged through every stage of learning.
Otters thrive together. They’re hands-on, curious, and always learning — in the classroom, in labs, and out in the community. They work hard, stay active, and never lose their sense of purpose or joy.
The River Otter reminds us that learning is strongest when it’s shared and full of discovery.

The River Dragon
Strong. Wise. Fearlessly evolving.
The River Dragon represents the transformation that happens when students believe in their potential and commit to their goals. It embodies strength, growth, and the courage to rise.
Like EICC students, this dragon is bold and unstoppable — rising from the current with confidence and clarity. It symbolizes resilience, wisdom, and the power to create new paths ahead.
The River Dragon inspires us to aim higher, push through challenges, and use our knowledge to strengthen our futures and communities.

The Egret
Focused. Graceful. Determined.
The Egret reflects the intention and persistence of EICC students — steady learners who rise with purpose and move toward their goals.
Egrets balance patience with decisive action, adapting to change while staying grounded. They move with precision and focus, reminding us that progress is built one purposeful step at a time.
The Egret represents the resilience and quiet confidence that help our students grow, adapt, and rise.

How Voting Works
Once voting closes, a selection committee will review results and consider community input as part of the final decision. The winning mascot will move into the design phase, where EICC’s graphic artists will develop an official character and visual identity.
About the Mascot Project
This initiative began with one goal: to create a mascot that feels unmistakably EICC — energetic, welcoming, and rooted in Eastern Iowa. A symbol that brings people together, reflects our regional identity, and inspires connection and pride.
From surveys and open submissions to committee review and finalist selection, every stage has been shaped by feedback from students, employees, alumni, and community members.
The four finalists above reflect the qualities you said matter most: inclusivity, optimism, resilience, creativity, and a strong connection to our region.
2025 - 26 Timeline
The discovery process begins with the Mascot Profile Survey, open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. Anonymous responses on identity, personality, originality and style set the stage for what comes next.
Survey closed Sept. 19, 2025.
The Mascot Committee reviews submissions carefully, weighing originality, brand fit, feasibility and uniqueness. From hundreds of ideas, three to five finalists will rise to the top.
The finalists are revealed. Then it’s your turn again. Voting opens across EICC — online and in person — so every voice can be part of the decision.
The moment arrives: the new mascot is announced. With messages sent, news shared and reveal parties on campus, the mascot’s debut marks the start of its life as a unifying symbol for our college.
