About Community College Month
Community College Month is a month-long educational campaign coordinated by the Association
of Community College Trustees (ACCT). The primary goals of Community College Month
are to improve awareness of the economic, academic, and equity advantages of attending
community colleges, and bust longtime stigmas wrongly associated with public two-year
colleges.
Did you know? Community colleges:
- Provide higher education to students with the fewest resources and the greatest obstacles.
- Are primary educators/certifiers of in-demand nursing and other healthcare professionals.
- Offer the most affordable, high-quality postsecondary education.
- Are the most in-demand institutions during and following times of economic recession.
- Serve the most demographically and socioeconomically diverse students.
- Guarantee fair admissions to all students.
- Are there for their communities in times of crisis.
Without community colleges, many students in the U.S. would not be able to access higher education at all. That's why it's important to celebrate community colleges nationwide and understand how they benefit communities locally.

THE Community's MIX
New this year, the college has collaborated with Sweet Tooth Snacks to create a custom
popcorn flavor called “THE Community’s MIX.” The popcorn is a delicious blend of melted
chocolate, drizzled over freshly-popped kettle corn and chocolate candy pieces. Bags
will be sold all month long at select campus locations.
With every bag sold, a portion of the proceeds will go to the college’s Emergency Student Assistance Fund. The fund supports students who encounter an unforeseen financial emergency or catastrophic event which would otherwise prevent them from continuing their education at EICC.
