University of Northern Iowa Transfer Notes
Students are encouraged to use the following information while planning their associate’s degree at Eastern Iowa Community Colleges. This information is intended to assist students in the transfer process to University of Northern Iowa to pursue a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice after the completion of the associate’s degree.
- Students are encouraged to participate in UNI’s Transfer Connection Program.
- Students should refer to UNI’s Transfer Plans of Study for Criminology to find additional electives that will transfer well.
- UNI has a Non-Western Culture Liberal Arts Core requirement that is not automatically
fulfilled through the completion of an associate’s degree. This course does not have
to be taken prior to transfer, however EICC does offer CLS:121, CLS:150, and HIS:211
that are approved to fulfill this requirement. Students may choose to take one of
these courses as part of their associate’s degree.
- World Language Requirement- UNI requires 2 years of the same world language in high
school with a “C-“ or better in the last term OR 2 semesters of the same world language
in college with a “C-“ or better in the last semester.

EICC strongly recommends you contact your intended transfer institution for specific transfer information and course recommendations. Transfer Partners ultimately determine the transferability of courses and how they will apply toward bachelor degree progress. Completion of a Transfer Major, AA degree does not guarantee admission to a Transfer Partner. Transfer admission requirements are determined by Transfer Partners. EICC strongly recommends you contact your intended transfer institution for information about admission requirements.
