The Department of Labor says that 60,000 jobs will go unfilled in the HVAC industry this year. The DOL also ranks the HVAC industry as one of the top 10 fastest growing careers and will be in the 10 through 2016. The top 10 fastest growing Careers will account for 32% of all employment in 2008 and 56% in 2016.
Earnings
HVAC technician salaries depend on experience. Students coming right out of school
can start with pay between $27,800 - $35,500 a year with benefits. As technicians
become more experienced or complete an apprenticeship, the salaries can increase to
$50,000 a year. Scott Community College graduates have a 76% percent placement rate
and make an average of $30,000 a year.
