General Education Requirements for Speech 

Choose from the General Education Requirements according to your goals and interests and the requirements of your intended transfer institution. The recommended General Education courses for this concentration include the following:

Communications:

  • SPC:112 Public Speaking, 3 credits


Arts and Humanities:

  • PHI:101 Introduction to Philosophy, 3 credits OR
  • PHI:110 Introduction to Logic, 3 credits OR
  • REL:101 Survey of World Religions, 3 credits

Cultural/Historical Perspectives:

  • CLS:150 Latin American History and Culture, 3 credits


Social Sciences:

  • POL:111 American National Government, 3 credits

Speech requirements vary depending on the transfer institution. It is important to plan your course selection carefully with both your community college advisor and your intended transfer institution. Choose elective courses as needed to complete the 62 credit hours required of an Associate Degree.
