Embed Work-Based Learning Activities in Curriculum

The full spectrum of WBL opportunities begins with classroom speakers and workplace tours in the beginning of high school, and culminates in experiences such as internships and apprenticeships at the end of their time in high school.

Classroom experiences may include reflection exercises, research and writing assignments, and hands-on projects that enable students to better understand careers, transfer knowledge, and apply what they have learned.

Examples to include in your curriculum:

  • Watch business/industry aligned videos
  • Invite guest speakers
  • Have students complete an informational interview with someone in the field
  • Incorporate project-based learning from an aligned business
  • Discuss the different positions that align, or positions that use the curriculum
