Belize Mayan architecture

Program Overview:
Biological, Tropical, and Environmental Sciences

This exciting opportunity is designed for you to learn about Belize’s natural resources and the impact of human activity on resources and ecosystems.  Be swept away by beautiful tropical scenery while exploring the rainforest, snorkeling on one of the country’s cays, small islands, or the Belize Barrier Reef.

Academic features of the trip include:  

  • Pre-departure assignments and an online discussion board
  • Daily in-field lectures, such as Principles of Forest Management, and Carbon Sequestration Projects
  • Exploration of Belize’s environment, examining: Plants and wildlife, including crocodile, bird and other animal habitat
  • Marine life, including coral reefs, fish and turtles
  • Maya and pre-Maya history, architecture and culture
