Dietary Manager & Food Service Supervisor Program

Dietary Managers are experts at managing dietary operations. They are trained and qualified to administrate menus, food purchasing and food preparation; and to apply nutrition principles, document nutrition information, ensure food safety, manage work teams and much more.

Eastern Iowa Community College’s Dietary Manager Program is approved by the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals (ANFP).

It consists of two integrated and coordinated components; the preparatory and the field experience.

The preparatory program includes the courses required for Health Care Facility Foodservice Supervisors plus three additional classes: Nutrition Care Planning 10 hours; Budget, Purchasing, & Inventory Control 16 hours; Human Resource Management 14 hours.

The field experience (150 hours) puts the preparatory training into action, supervised by a field instructor/preceptor.

Students who successfully complete the Preparatory Program and Field Experience receive a Dietary Manager Certificate from Eastern Iowa Community Colleges. They are eligible for the ANFP credentialing examination and active professional membership. Student names will be forwarded to the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals within two weeks.

Students are eligible for student member ship. For this purpose student and graduate names/addresses will be sent to the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals.
