
Sharar Foundation Scholarships
The Paul B. Sharar Foundation for Clinton Community College awards more than 150 scholarships
each year. The Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization. Through gifts of
many organizations, businesses, friends and staff, the Foundation is able to fund
student scholarships.
Please read all instructions and the application carefully. Direct any questions you
may have to the Paul B. Sharar Foundation Office of Clinton Community College, 563-244-7040.
Due to the volume of applications received, incomplete applications will not be considered
by the selection committee.

Applications
Who is Eligible to Apply for Sharar Foundation Scholarships?
All current and prospective full and part-time (six hours or more) students are considered.
Some are based on financial need and or/ academic excellence, and others are based
on the degree you are pursuing or the location in which you live. If a student wishes
to register for fewer than six hours, and can demonstrate financial need, some scholarship
assistance may be available. Scholarship amounts range from $200 to the Honor Scholarships.
A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher is required to be eligible for scholarships.
Those individuals with lower GPA’s may wish to explain their special circumstances
in the letter addressing the scholarship awarding committee.
Academic Scholarships
- Presidential Scholarship for Academic Excellence
for students that have completed 30 hours of college course work at Clinton Community College with a cumulative 4.00 GPA. - Clinton Community College Deans' Scholarships
for students that has completed 30 hours of college course work at Clinton Community College with a cumulative 3.50 GPA. - Honor Scholarships
for graduating seniors in the top 10 percent of their class and enrolled full-time in a degree program. Renewable if a 3.50 GPA is maintained.
Red and Gold Scholarships
- Sharar Foundation Red and Gold Scholarships
For high school seniors graduating in upper half of class, participating in one or more student activities in high school, with letters of reference from teachers, counselors, or other school personnel. One scholarship is available to each of the following area high schools:- Bellevue High School

for a student in the Nursing program and showing academic promise. Preference will be given to those who are planning to stay in the community. -
American Association of University Women Scholarship
awarded to a non-traditional female with financial need demonstrating academic promise. -

Marie Brumer Dudley Memorial Scholarship
awarded to a non-traditional female with financial need demonstrating academic promise. -
Ena Raaymakers Ballinger Memorial Scholarship
awarded to a caring and compassionate student enrolled in a health care program who is goal oriented and committed to completing their education, and demonstrates academic promise and financial need. -
Ivan Barber Endowed Scholarship
for a full-time freshman from the DeWitt area. Financial need and academic promise are considered. Renewable with a 3.25 GPA and new application. -
John & Mary Blong Achievement Award
awarded to an Iowa HiSET graduate with financial need. -
John & Martha Bonte Scholarship
for a non-traditional student majoring in a Science, Humanities, or Social Sciences program with a goal of transfer for a BA or BS degree upon completion of the Associates Degree, demonstrating a commitment to their education as evidenced by a 3.5 GPA after completing at least 12 credit hours of 100 level classes or above. -
Howard Borup Community Service Award
for a student demonstrating involvement in community or school activities and academic promise. Renewable with a 3.25 GPA and new application. -
B-rrry Scurry - Jim Thyne Memorial Scholarships
In memory of one of the founders of the CCC B-rrry Scurry, Jim Thyne. -
B-rrry Scurry Scholarships
for recent high school graduates (within 3 years of graduating from high school) that participated in track, cross country or other high school athletics. Academic promise and financial need are considered. -
James & Juanita Byrns Scholarships
for students demonstrating financial need. Preference will be given to non-traditional students enrolled in a Business, Engineering, Science, Drafting, Electronics, Computer or Office Technology program. -
Camanche Bowlers Association Scholarship
for a student associated with the Camanche Bowling Association. Student must be full time, demonstrate financial need and academic promise. -
Larry Carpenter Memorial Scholarship
for a sophomore student enrolled in a Career & Technical program such as Engineering Technology with academic achievement of 3.0 GPA or above, who demonstrates the same commitment and loyalty to family, friends, work and life as Larry Carpenter. -
Arthur & Theresa Christoffersen - Arts & Science Scholarship
for a student residing in the Delwood School District; second consideration for Maquoketa High School graduates; third, resident in Clinton or Jackson County. Must demonstrate academic promise and financial need. -
Arthur & Theresa Christoffersen - Career & Technical Scholarship
for a student residing in the Delwood School District; second consideration for Maquoketa High School graduates; third, resident in Clinton or Jackson County. Must demonstrate academic promise and financial need. -

awarded to a displaced homemaker. - CHS Class of 1971
awarded to Clinton High School graduates attending Clinton Community College studying Nursing or other Career & Technical Education program, demonstrating financial need and academic promise. -
Clinton Area Vietnam Veterans Association Scholarships
for a Vietnam veteran or the descendant of a Vietnam veteran (including adoptive children), demonstrating academic promise and financial need. Renewable for second year with new application. -
Clinton Art Association Scholarship
for an Art major. Based on portfolio evidence of consistent excellence in graphic arts field. Must be a full-time student. Financial need is a consideration. Applicants should have at least one letter of reference from a qualified art instructor or high school art teacher. Student will be required to bring a portfolio of their work for review. - Clinton Community College 75th Anniversary Scholarship
awarded to a Clinton Community College student who is committed to their education. -
CCC Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship
for a non-traditional student. Financial need and academic promise considered. -
CCC Alumni Association – Connie Seifert Memorial Scholarship
awarded to a student who demonstrates academic achievement. -
CCC Alumni Association Member Scholarship
for the son, daughter, or spouse of Clinton Community College Alumni Association member. (Must be a paid member for at least 2 years.) Student must be enrolled 6 or more hours and demonstrate academic promise. -
CCC Alumni Association Recognition Scholarship
for a HiSET graduate. Must demonstrate financial need, academic promise and commitment to complete program. -
CCC Staff/Faculty Scholarship
for a senior graduating with a GPA of 3.5, ACT of 25 or higher, or in the top 10% of class. HiSET recipients with composite score of 60 or better are also considered. -
CCC Student Senate Scholarships
for Student Senate participants showing a commitment to Clinton Community College. -
CCC Support Staff Scholarship
awarded to a student in the Administrative & Office Support program. -
Clinton County Development Association
for graduating seniors from Clinton County High Schools. -

to students studying in an Environmental Science program. -

for a graduating senior from a Clinton area high school. Must demonstrate financial need. -

for a Clinton resident or resident in the Clinton Kiwanis service area. Must be a full-time student demonstrating academic promise and financial need. -

for a Clinton resident or resident in the Clinton Kiwanis service area. Must be a full-time student demonstrating academic promise and financial need. -

awarded to a high-achieving high school graduate from the Clinton area. -
Paul & Ruby Coffey Memorial Nursing Scholarship
awarded to a student enrolled in the CCC Nursing program, residing in Whiteside County, Illinois, and having attended a public school, demonstrating a commitment to completing their education. -
Criminal Justice Scholarship
Awarded to a student studying Criminal Justice. -
J.T. Cullen Company Scholarship
awarded to an employee or dependent of J.T. Cullen Company. -
Paul Davis Memorial Scholarship
for a student demonstrating a commitment to their education and to the community through hard work and active volunteerism. -
Gladys Dege Memorial Nursing Scholarships
for a student enrolled in the Nursing program. Financial need is considered. -
DeWitt Area Scholarship
for a student from the DeWitt area. Financial need, academic promise and community service are considered. -
Wilbur Dosland Scholarships
for a student living in the Calamus, Lost Nation, Oxford Junction or Wheatland area. Financial need and academic promise are considered. -

Awarded to a student demonstrating academic achievement that has been accepted and enrolled in the CCC Nursing program. -

Awarded to concurrently enrolled students who demonstrate the intent to complete a degree at Clinton Community College taking coursework on campus. Scholarship is renewed, pending a 3.0 cumulative GPA. -

for a sophomore having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrating financial need, and from a rural area. Preference given to dependents of farmers. - Carl Warren Family Scholarship
awarded to a Clinton Community College student who is committed to their education. -

for a non-traditional female student from Clinton (first priority), or Camanche or Fulton. -

for a student enrolled in the two-year degree Administrative Office Professional program, showing commitment to a secretarial career, and demonstrating academic promise. Financial need is considered. Renewable with a 2.50 GPA and new application. -
Jack C. Whipple Accounting Scholarships
for a full-time freshman enrolled in the Accounting program with a GPA of 3.00 or HiSET composite score of at least 60. Renewable for sophomore year with a GPA of 3.0, full-time status, and new application. -

awarded to a student showing academic achievement in Accounting. - Jim & Mary Winn Education Scholarship
awarded to a CCC student enrolled in Education with an emphasis in music, and active in sharing their musical talents in the community. - Jim & Mary Woll Career & Technical Program Scholarship
awarded to a student enrolled in a CCC CTE program, committed to completing their education -

for a female in a Math or Science program. -
Marjorie Wood Memorial Art Scholarship
awarded to an art, art education or graphic design student and can be used not only for tuition and fees, but also art supplies. Academic and artistic promise is a must. - LaMetta K. Wynn Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Preference given to second-year Clinton Community College Nursing students who have demonstrated a commitment to completing their nursing degree and are engaged in community service. Financial need is a criteria for one of the scholarship recipients.
Organizations
Many organizations in the community offer scholarships. Contact your high school guidance counselor for assistance. Be sure to check religious organizations, civic groups and/or any other clubs you or your family may be involved in.
Outside Scholarship
On occasion, some organizations contact the Financial Aid Office with information
on other scholarships that may be available. Be sure to contact the Financial Aid
Office for assistance in locating the scholarship bulletin board where you can find
information on these outside scholarships. The Financial Aid Office posts this type
of information as it is received.
You may wish to check with your public library or the Clinton Community College library
for other reference books on scholarships. Scholarship information is also available
on the internet from FinAid and FastWeb
