March 17 Student Communication
As we have anticipated, the Coronavirus situation continues to change rapidly, which requires EICC to adapt its operational procedures to reflect the changing environment. Specifically, the following recommendations have been made:
- Governor Reynolds has recommended that all Iowa K-12 schools close until April 13 and area schools have followed this recommendation. In addition, effective today, Governor Reynolds announced the closing of theaters, casinos, fitness centers and the limited carry out access for bars and restaurants.
- The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has recommended that all gatherings of 10 or
more be cancelled for 15 days and gathering over 50 until May 10.
In light of these recommendations, the following measures are in effect for EICC students and employees.
EICC Classes and Services
In an abundance of caution, and with the health and safety of our students and employees as our first priority, EICC operational procedures will be modified as follows:
- Spring Break for students will continue to be extended through March 24.
- Students in face-to-face classes will begin or resume spring semester classes on Wednesday, March 25 through April 12 via remote delivery. This is an extension of remote delivery by one additional week. Starting on March 24, you will see content in Canvas for your classes. - The new operational hours will go into effect starting on March 19 and will continue
until Monday, April 13. The main campuses will serve as your resource for services.
All of the other college locations will be closed starting March 19 until Monday,
April 13.
We anticipate that the pandemic situation can and likely will change. The college continues to monitor the situation and will adjust plans as needed. PLEASE pay close attention to EICC communications as circumstances and EICC procedures may change quickly.
