Maintenance/Custodian

Scott Community College is seeking a full-time Maintenance/Custodian 

 

Under the direction of the SCC Maintenance Supervisor, this position will be responsible for; performing routine building maintenance duties as required to clean, maintain, and deep functional all areas in buildings, grounds, and adjacent areas.  Successful candidate must follow written or oral procedures in performance of general maintenance duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must perform maintenance and/or custodial duties as needed and work with contractors to keep the college facilities and grounds in working order.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency diploma.  
  • Two years proven successful experience in maintenance work or in the building trade industry is required.
  • Must possess knowledge of general maintenance.
  • Should have basic understanding of electricity and plumbing fixtures and have a demonstrable level of competence in equipment operation and knowledge of safety devises, use, and procedure.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be physically capable of performing assigned duties.
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, crawl, stoop, etc.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking are necessary.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to use and ride on industrial equipment as necessary i.e. forklifts, lawn and grounds power equipment, snow removal equipment as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
