Full-time Lead Teachers – Adult Education & Literacy

EICC is seeking full-time Lead Teachers – Adult Education & Literacy Clinton and Muscatine Community College

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Adult Education, this position will be responsible for:

  • Under limited supervision, the Lead Teacher is responsible for the creation of effective, student-centered instructional models and implementation of programming with and for adult faculty and students. This position will provide leadership in the expansion and implementation of college and community based programming in Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Equivalency (HSE), and English Language Acquisition (ELA).  The Lead Teacher will provide structured course plans, oversee new student orientation, and monitor and direct student progress through the program.  The Lead Teacher will supervise instructional staff and will provide leadership, direction, and professional development to these individuals.

Qualifications will include:

  • Master’s degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.   
  • Teaching/counseling experience in Adult Basic Education, special education/learning disabilities is desirable as is experience in working with high-risk and diverse populations.
  • Multilingual expertise a plus.
  • Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population, staff, and external constituents.
  • Successful candidate must be skilled in maintaining effective relations with administration and instructional personnel as well as students and the public.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and community relations skills are required.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.
  • Successful candidate must possess exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
