Lab Assistant I (Physical Sciences)

Scott Community College is seeking a PT.  Lab Assistant I (Physical Sciences Lab) (Up to 19 hours per week)

Under the direction of the Department Coordinator for Physical Sciences this position will be responsible for:

  • Working with the department faculty to ensure laboratories are properly set-up and supplied with materials and supplies. The Lab Assistant will also ensure that apparatus is working properly and ensure that laboratories function at a high standard.

Qualifications will include:

  • Associates degree required. Bachelor’s degree in science education preferred.
  • Previous related science experience preferred.
  • Must possess a solid understanding of supplies and general procedures used in science labs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competence in equipment operation and knowledge of safety devises, use and procedure.
  • Must have proven computer literacy.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population, staff, and external constituents.
  • Successful candidate must possess exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
