IT Service Desk Specialist

Eastern Iowa Community Colleges'  IT Department is seeking an Entry Level Service Desk Specialist.


Under the direction of the Associate Director of IT Services, this position will be responsible for; handling incoming calls, voicemails, emails, and chats to the college’s IT Help Desk.  This position will also be responsible for performing initial assessment and triage of reported IT service interruptions and requests for service and use the IT Service Management system to properly record and route tickets for resolution.  Typical work schedule will be Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in an information technology related field, or an equivalent combination of experience on an IT Help Desk, education, or industry certification preferred.
  • Must have ability to communicate and work well with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed to include after-hours, weekends, and holidays for on-call coverage.
  • Must have effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population, staff, and external constituents.
  • Must maintain a commitment to providing quality service and professional integrity that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Successful candidate must possess exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.\
