Construction Instructor (Full-time)


Under the direction of the SCC Dean of Career Programs & Distant Campuses, this position will be responsible for: Responsible for teaching construction in our Construction Technology program and assessing our students’ skills.  Assignments may include alternative delivery methods, evening courses, and multiple sites.  Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service.  Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Combination of education, training and at least 6,000 hours (3yrs.) recent and relevant work experience in the field of instruction required or; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology or related field.
  • Five years of relevant field experience in Construction is preferred.  
  • Experience teaching at a community college is preferred but not required.  
    Must be able to work a flexible schedule, days or evenings.

CNC Instructor (Full-time, Blong Technology Center)


Under the direction of the SCC Dean of Career Programs & Distant Campuses this position will be responsible for: Responsible for teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes in CNC Machining.  Assignments may include alternative delivery methods, evening courses, and multiple sites.  Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service.  Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Combination of education, training and at least 6,000 hours (3yrs.) recent and relevant work experience required or; Bachelor’s degree in the CNC field and/or a relevant Journeyman’s card.
  • Five years of relevant field experience in CNC Machining is preferred. 
  • Must have excellent mechanical aptitude and experience with equipment, such as precision grinders, machine tools, lathes and lasers, used for cutting, grinding and milling. In addition to having strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, they must have good analytical skills and be able to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • NIMS/MSSC credentials preferred.
  • Experience teaching at a community college is preferred. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, days or evenings.

Culinary Arts Instructor (165 Day Contract, Scott Community College)


Under the direction of the Dean of Career Programs and Distant Campuses this position will be responsible for: Responsible for teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes in Culinary Arts program.  Teaching assignments may include alternative delivery methods, evening courses, and multiple sites.  Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service.  Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.

Qualifications for Culinary Arts Instructor will include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a culinary Arts field or 6,000 hours of relevant tested experience in the Culinary Arts field.
  • Five years of relevant field experience in Culinary Arts is preferred.
  • Experience teaching at a community college is preferred.
  • Must be able to teach/work a flexible schedule, days or evenings.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.

Diesel Technology Instructor (Full-time, Scott Community College)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Combination of education, training and at least 6,000 hours (3yrs.) recent and relevant work experience in diesel technology required or; Bachelor’s degree in Diesel Technology.
  • Must have ASE certification, prefer Master ASE certification.
  • Five years of relevant field experience in Diesel Technology is preferred. 
  • Experience teaching at a community college is preferred but not required. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, days or evenings.

HVAC Instructor (Muscatine Community College)


Under the direction of the MCC Dean of Instruction, this position will be responsible for: Responsible for teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes in HVAC.  Assignments may include alternative delivery methods, evening courses, and multiple sites.  Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service.  Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Combination of education, training and at least 6,000 hours (3yrs.) recent and relevant work experience in HVAC required or; Bachelor’s degree in HVAC.
  • Five years of relevant field experience in HVAC is preferred.
  • Must possess a Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Universal certification. 
  • Experience teaching at a community college is preferred but not required. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, days or evenings.

IT Augmented Virtual Reality Instructor (204 day contract, Scott Community College - Urban Campus)

Under the direction of the Dean of Instruction this position will be responsible for responsible for teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes in the IT Augmented Virtual Reality Program.  Some of the topics to be taught include 3D modeling, digital animation, C# programming, and game engine development. The successful candidate must have the ability to prepare and teach courses using appropriate software and a variety of programming languages. Teaching assignments may include evening courses and multiple sites using face-to-face, Zoom, and online delivery modalities.  Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service. Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.

Qualifications will include:

  • Possess a combination of education, training, and at least 3 years of relevant experience in Augmented and Virtual Reality, Game Design, Digital Animation, Immersive Media Design, 3D Modeling, Digital Storytelling or some other related AVR field.  
  • Degree and/or certification in AVR, Game Design, Digital Animation, Immersive Media Design, or Programming with AVR coursework is preferred.
  • The ability to teach courses in Augmented and Virtual Reality and some classes in the Programming Department such as C# is needed.
  • Experience teaching at a community college is preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population, staff, and external constituents.
  • Must maintain a commitment to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Must possess the attitude, knowledge, skills, and motivation necessary to create an effective learning environment.
  • Successful candidate must possess exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.

Medical Assisting Instructor (165 Day Contract, Muscatine Community College) 


Under the direction of the Dean of Health Programs this position will be responsible for:

Responsible for teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes within a CAAHEP accredited medical assistant program.  Instructing student on the clinical, professional skills and knowledge required to succeed as a Medical Assistant.  Teaching assignments may include alternative delivery methods, evening courses, and multiple sites.  Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service.  Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.

Qualifications for Business Instructor will include:

  • Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting or a related health field.
  • One of the following credentials is required; CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), NCMA (NCCT), CCMA (NHA) or CMAC (AMCA).
  • Must have 6,000 hours of work experience in a healthcare facility, including 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting, performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures performed by medical assistants.
  • Must hold a credential in medical assisting and be in good standing with the accrediting agency. Credential must be recognized by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). 
  • Formal teacher training and professional teaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience teaching at a community college is preferred.
  • Must be able to teach/work a flexible schedule, days or evenings.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.

Nursing Instructors (Clinton, Muscatine and Scott Community Colleges)


Under the direction of the Dean of Health Programs this position will be responsible for:

Teaching courses, lab, simulation, and/or clinical in accordance with outcomes identified in the established course development model.  Instructional assignments may include alternative delivery methods, day or evening courses, and/or multiple campus locations.  Must demonstrate excellence in organization, planning, teaching and service.  Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.

Qualifications will include:

  • Master’s degree with a major in nursing or applicable field required. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing will be considered.
  • Two years’ experience in clinical nursing required.
  • Proven competence in clinical nursing.
  • Community College teaching or training experience in preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa Registered Nurse license and BCLS certified.
  • Excellent communication skills along with a high level of initiative and practical judgment.
