Scott Community College is seeking a full-time Environmental Health and Safety Trainer.

Position Summary:
The Health, Safety, and Environmental Corporate Trainer assists with the operation of EICC's non-credit Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and Fire Safety programs. This person helps to assess, plan, implement, develop, and evaluate organized public and customized programs for the EICC service area and partner colleges. As a representative of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, this person must convey a professional and positive image. The corporate trainer must exercise a high degree of independent judgment, initiative, organization, and problem-solving in the successful operation of programs and services.
Salary:
$70K - $75K, plus benefits
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have knowledge of OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT and other fire safety needs such as NFPA and DOT regulations. Must demonstrate strong organizational and team building skills. Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and community relations skills are required. Regulatory compliance experience in an industrial setting helpful. Must have or receive appropriate certifications. This position will assess, plan, implement, develop, and evaluate public and customized HSE training programs for the EICC service area and partner colleges. This position may oversee adjunct faculty as needed.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides technical assistance in the areas of health, safety, and environmental technology to business and industry.
- Instructs health, safety, and environmental course offerings throughout the EICC service area and partner colleges.
- Works with the EICC Business Solutions Team to assess training needs, develop, and deliver courses for industry, and provide technical assistance.
- Develops and maintains curriculum for both public and customized non-credit offerings.
- Keeps current on health and safety regulations.
- Works collaboratively with National Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (PETE) to provide national training activities. If not a PETE Community College Consortium for Health and Safety Training (CCCHST) member in good standing, must be willing to attend the 2-week Train-the-Trainer.
- Maintains college and National Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (PETE) equipment to industry standards. Maintains the college’s EHS Training Center for training readiness
- Earns and maintains professional certifications required in order to provide training.
- Visits business and industry for public relations as well as program and class recruitment.
- Participates in related state, national, and local professional organizations and associations.
- Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
