Disability Services Specialist

Eastern Iowa Community Colleges' Scott Community College campus is seeking a full-time Disability Services Specialist.

Under the direction of the Dean of Student Development, this position will be responsible for coordinating ADA Services for Scott Community College to assure appropriate accommodations for coursework.  Respond to referrals from instructors of students at-risk academically to assess the situation and make plans with students for academic improvement.  Work with instructors, special support services, student services, and community services to assist students with classroom success strategies.  This position will also assist with academic advising as needed.

Qualifications will include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must possess working knowledge of ADA policies and government regulations.
  • Two years proven experience working with adults or students with learning disabilities.
  • Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population, staff, and external constituents.
  • Successful candidate must be skilled in maintaining effective relations with administration and instructional personnel as well as students and the general public.
  • Must have excellent computer skills
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule.
  • Successful candidate must possess exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
