Eastern Iowa Community Colleges is seeking a Community Education Program Coordinator.

Community Education Program Coordinator

Division of Workforce Development & Continuing Education

Starting Salary:

$45,000 - $50,000/Year

Position Summary:

This position will provide community-based continuing education opportunities for individuals who are 16 years of age and older with a primary focus on training that enhances employability or academic success, influences public policy, is court-mandated, or teaches life skills that enhance family development or health.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in education and/or community programming
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, or ability to secure transportation to customer locations throughout the EICC district.


Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate instructors.
  • Support instructors with student, class, and scheduling issues. 
  • Participate in state, national, and local professional organizations related to subject area. 
  • Use LERN tools, benchmarks, and formulas to market program offerings, determine pricing, evaluate current offerings, and develop new courses/programs. 
  • Monitor and analyze budget revenue projections and program expenses and maintain appropriate operating margins. 
  • Develop training proposals and contracts. 
  • Coordinate training schedules.
  • Maintains records of activities and business interactions through Lumens and the college LMS system.  
  • Possess up-to-date knowledge of all CE and credit programs, services, processes/procedures, and relevant resources. 
  • Work collaboratively with all departments, and offices of the college. 
  • Provide input on marketing materials and web-site.  Refresh materials as needed.  
  • Collaborate with the Business Solutions Team to provide contract training to business and industry.  As needed, attend meetings with business and industry. 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of training grant and funding options pertaining to program area.  
  • Develop or actively participate in advisory committee meetings that pertain to program area.  

Duties and responsibilities Related to Program Area(s):

  • Oversee, schedule, promote, and ensure reporting for court-mandated training. 
  • Schedule ongoing training for Child Development Associate, Coaching Authorization, and Substitute Teacher Authorization. 
  • Develop programming that meets the interests and learning needs of the community.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the type of programming that results in state funding, and focus efforts on innovative growth in those areas.  
  • Develop and nurture relationships with community partners in order to collaboratively meet community educational needs and expand customer base.  
  • Market and promote offerings through internal and external strategies. 
  • Seek opportunities to provide programming for current students and alumni of EICC.  


Physical Requirements:

  • Stand, bend, reach high/low, stoop, and walk 
  • Must be able to lift 15 to 20 pounds for short periods of time and push/pull 15 to 20 lbs.
