Assistant Dean of Library & Learning Resources

Scott Community College is seeking an Asst. Dean of Library & Learning Resources

Under the direction of the SCC Dean of Instruction this position will be responsible for: The overall leadership, coordination and management of library services and resources. Supports the research needs of students, faculty, and staff. Coordinates and provides information literacy training for students and faculty. Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration to create, support, and assess library services and programs which foster student success. Provides assistance with the academic offerings and programs at the College through data collection, research, and membership on College and EICC committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited graduate program or equivalent experience plus work toward a Master’s Degree in Library Science to be completed in the next two years from an accredited graduate program.
  • Prefer experience in collection development at a comprehensive community college. Knowledge of emerging trends in academic libraries and with automated systems, microcomputers and electronic search procedures preferred.
  • Prefer previous supervisory and management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse staff, faculty, and student community.
