Clinton Community College student Kambren Bigwood was named the winner of the student competition for the Opening Doors Film Festival held recently in the Bettendorf, Iowa. The Opening Doors Film Festival was hosted by the Junior League of the Quad Cities, and benefitted Family Resources.

Kambren Bigwood is a student in the CCC Introduction to Films class where the invitation was made by Family Resources to submit entries to the film festival. He explained, "The reason I produced the film 'Break the Silence' was because people in our community are affected by sexual assault and domestic abuse. Family resources is a place to help them, and I’m glad I could do this film for such a great organization."

Instructor Gina Bielski encouraged her students to create a short film of 3 to 5 minutes for entry into the festival.  Bielski commented, "I'm so proud of the work that Kambren put into this project.  The film was outstanding, and he is so deserving of the award."

All entries were required to have a Family Resources theme.

Bigwood attended the Family Resources Opening Doors Gala on April 12 in Bettendorf to receive his award and view his film.  All proceeds of the event support Family Resources programs.

Congratulations to CCC student and filmmaker Kambren Bigwood!
